This site was created by Chris Hansen to comfort his wife, Kathy, as we celebrate the life of our beloved Pomeranian, McKinley.

McKinley has several terminal illnesses — cancer and kidney disease — but with the incredible dedication of our veterinary team and Kathy’s unwavering love, he has responded remarkably well to the customized treatment plan they developed. Each day with him is a gift, and this site is our way of capturing those precious moments.

“Tribute & Our Four Poms”

🎨 A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Friend, Kirsten Schmuck

Each of our dogs was lovingly hand-painted by our wonderful lifelong friend, Kirsten Schmuck. Her portraits capture not only their likeness but also their personalities — the spirit, love, and joy that have filled our home for so many years.

Kirsten’s painting of all four of them hangs proudly next to our fireplace, reminding us daily of the warmth and friendship that has surrounded our family — both two-legged and four-legged. We are deeply grateful for her artistry and her heart.

Molly - The girl of the family — golden, graceful, and full of spark. At Panda Express, she’s even been called “The Golden Panda!” Molly brings laughter wherever she goes, her tail wagging like sunshine in motion.

Marley — Our beautiful black Pom, the first of the 4 to cross over to what is next on the other side! Marley was barked the most, the guardian of our little pack. His memory lives in every soft bark and wagging tail that followed.

Murphy — The shy one, happiest in the background but always nearby. Murphy is our quiet observer, the one who reminds us that love doesn’t always need to be loud. His calm presence fills our home with peace.

McKinley — Our snow-tipped boy, named for the great Mount Denali (formerly Mount McKinley) in Alaska. Just like the mountain’s peaks, he carries white “snowcaps” on his front toes. Brave and bright-eyed, McKinley’s courage through illness and his endless love remind us daily what true spirit looks like.
